part 3/3

So we headed up the Berninapass...

Right after the pass, we turned left towards Livignio. In the process we also did two of the least spoken passes: Passo Eira and Passo di Foscagno. Both are high enough to be proper passes, but truth to be said there are a few points against them: Thje roads and the scenery are not so inspiring, there are a lot of trucks going up and down, and the weather was WARM! It was inviting indeed that it was warm, but the last point is the most serious: I stopped at both passes, and went to the local cafe's with the Pass name on them and asked for stickers... In passo Eira, they offered to put the stamp of the cafe on a paper to give to me! No stickers at both! Incredible! And how do I prove I did them?! I didn't even bother to take a pic at either!

Click on above image to see that Pavlos caught a bird flying right in front of the water!

The same does not hold true however for Forcola di Livignio, another true pass, and someone please tell me why it's not called that! However there are two differences: At exactly the "forcola" is the border between Switzerland and Italy and the sticker is ROUND!!!!!!!! (Yes, we got one, each!)

The road down to Livignio is a good driving stretch, even though at the first 2 km's there was work in progress and we drove/rode in the dirt for a while! Nevermind. Livignio failed to live up to its reputation to me, because we filled up with quite expensive gas, at 82 cents. I know, all these days we were paying 1.10 to 1.25 for it, in all countries! But in Greece it's still 69 cents, so it's not such a "must" to ride into Livignio. At this time, and knowing that in 3 more days our trip was going to end, we were running out of money too, so we didn't bother look for the "occassion". Maybe next time! Alas, it's a couple of hours ride from Trento, so maybe next time we visit Zozzo!
Back to the start of the trip

Passo Dello Stelvio! Here it comes!
